What About the Most Toss Winning Captain in IPL?
Another statistic that can sometimes be thrown into comparisons of captains is the toss record.
But the number of tosses won is not necessarily a good indicator of the success of captaincy. A captain can win a lot of tosses and still not win the same percentage of matches as another captain who may have won the same percentage of tosses but a higher percentage of matches.
That’s why, the most toss winning captain in IPL should be judged on his own and not the captain who has the most match wins or trophies.
Does Captaincy Make a Difference in IPL?
Captaincy can have an impact on many aspects of an IPL match, such as bowling changes, batting order, and field placements and decisions after the toss.
But it’s not just the captain that counts for a team. Coaching, quality of players, injuries, team balance, conditions and performances can all impact results.
The leadership of Dhoni and Rohit have been part of the DNA of CS and MI respectively for a long time, while the strength of the squads and coaching systems helped them achieve it.
