Top buys in IPL 2025

The two-day IPL 2025 Mega Auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, set a record with the franchise investing a whopping Rs 639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer earned the league’s highest price tags at Rs 27 crore and Rs 26.75 crore, respectively, and the number of successful bids crossing the Rs 10 crore mark increased twofold from the previous auction. There were 21 players sold for Rs 10 crore plus, up from 11 during the mega auction organized by the BCCI earlier this year.

The Right-to-Match (RTM) rule was modified to some aspects and that played a major role in the form of auctions. According to this rule, if the highest bidder wants to, they get to bid at the amount of their preference, which was open for the previous franchise to counter. Recipients of this provision include Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Naman Dhir. Let’s take a look at the Top buys in IPL 2025 in this article.

Top buys in IPL auction 2025 (Best Bargains in IPL 2025 Auction)

IPL 2025 auction turned out to be full of stunning steal deals being finalized in two days in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Day 1 was relatively aggressive with franchises bidding heavily for players such as Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Venkatesh Iyer etc.  Many of the most popular franchise players were lucky to sign for a bargain price including the names of Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell, Quinton de Kock, etc.

Glenn Maxwell:

While the Australian all-rounder’s form is generally unpredictable, the franchise that is willing to bet on the man can barely tell which Maxwell would show up in a particular season. Maxwell was let go by Royal Challengers Bengaluru before the mega auction after a terrible IPL 2024 season. As form did not stand in his favor in the mega auction, Punjab Kings bought Maxwell for a bargain price of 4 crores. His name is included in the list of Most dangerous batsmen in the IPL.

Tim David:

Another Australian in the list, only a couple of years ago, David was one of the most sensational and powerful middle-order batsmen in the world regarding T20s. However, poor performance depressed his rating among the players. When Maxwell was not retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they signed David from the auction to fill the void. He only cost INR 3 crore.

Adam Zampa:

The consistent trend continues with Australian player, and spinner Adam Zampa taking the third position on the list. In T20 cricket, Zampa is currently among the most successful spin bowlers having taken 341 wickets across 280 T20 games. Though he could not perform such status in IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be hoping for a similar change as Zampa plays for the team in an orange color Jersey while leading the captaincy of Pat Cummins. That too, he was signed for a mere Rs 2.40 crore when the market was already headed for change.

Quinton de Kock:

The Kolkata Knight Riders signed this aggressive opening batsman at a very cheap price of INR 3.60 crore in the auctions. The KKR management would be over the moon to have secured the services of a player who has amassed 3157 runs in 107 IPL games with the addition of two centuries.

Washington Sundar:

Right at the top of the list is the Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. When Sundar was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he was supposed to go for somewhere around INR 10 crore in the auction. However, the spin-bowling all-rounder was bought for only Rs. 3.20 crore by the Gujarat Titans. All in all, if Sundar continues his exponential rise in limited over format as well, then he will be adopted at the highest bargain rate of the auction with his T20 international record being 47 wickets from 52 of him with an economy rate of 6.87.
